We are an eco-conscious community dedicated to living in harmony with the environmental systems of the earth. This website is seeded with the intention to awaken and inspire the stewardship of the Amazon Rainforest and all of the great forests left on the planet.
Iglesia de la Amazonía is recognized as a “church” with 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. We are in good standing with both federal and state regulatory authorities. Our home base is in Denver, Colorado. Our mission also gathers in Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, and California.
We promote an interfaith, non-dogmatic, practice based spiritual life, based on the tenets of self inquiry, guided discussions, environmental stewardship, song circles, and ancient mind body practices such as meditation and yoga.
We are currently accepting tax exempt donations to support an Amazon Rainforest Preserve in Peru, for scholarship funds to healing retreats, and to help grow our non-profit. Make a Donation Here.

We believe in the importance of gathering in community as a means to align ourselves with our Divine Purpose. When we join our hearts and intentions in presence together, the power of our sacred songs and prayers are amplified and we realize our inter-connectedness with All. Coming together for celebration, worship, prayer, and the traditional intentional practices of our spiritual lineage is not only our sacred birthright, it intrinsically supports our growth and evolution as individuals and as a spiritual community.
About Us
Meet our Ministers
Our ministers, Alonso del Rio, Surdas, and Vajra are the visionaries and founders behind The Church of the Amazon in the United States. Their music, which is the heart of their ministry, is a pure channel of love and devotion. They find constant inspiration for their original compositions in the abundant blessings of our Mother Earth, and in the great wisdom and mystical religious traditions of the world, from antiquity to the modern era. They believe that Truth is One, though paths are many, and their lyrics and discourses reflect the principles of inclusivity, interconnectedness, and the Divinity of which we are, All of Us, an integral part.
Alonso, Surdas, and Vajra, through the vehicle of their music ministry, have brought deep joy and support to thousands of people all over the world for a decade and a half. Their influence in their community has inspired positive life changes, creativity, and healing on a soul-level.
